Mozza Cheese Plus Spices and Bread Equals a Sumptuous Snack

I was watching old reruns of the US series Friends where I saw one of its stars, Courtney Cox, baking cookies. So, as is my typical case, I got cravings for baked goodiesâ€"but not the sweet type. Now, normally, I have a stock of peanut butter loaf and chocolate candies in the fridge, but baked and sweet weren't the most appealing at the time. You know what I mean, right? There are days when you simply hunger for something and you just can't put your finger on it... Anyways, I searched my cupboard and saw dangerously declining stocks. My white bread was going to expire, so I got to thinking, bread recipe. I had a look and noticed many dents in the spice rack but amazingly a very productive yield. I caught my butter just before it turned rancid, found one head of anti-vampire garlic and even redeemed some cheese from moldy thieves. So now we have one tantalizing feast of a snack in this Cheesy Garlic Bread Recipe!

Ingredients:

- 10 slices of thick white bread

- Butter at room temperature, about one stick or bar

- Garlic powder or Pesto Mix (widely available at your local supermarket)

- Shredded mozzarella or quick melt cheese

- Fresh parsley finely chopped, about two tablespoons

Method:

- Place the bread slices on a tray.

- In a mixing bowl, you can mix the butter and garlic powder (or Pesto Mix) or discard the bowl completely and just spread butter on one side of each slice of bread only and sprinkle with garlic powder and/or Pesto Mix as evenly as you can. Be sure to lavish the spread for your highest crunching pleasure.

- Using a nonstick pan, toast the bread, buttered side down, for five (5) to seven (7) seconds or just 'til you begin to hear a gentle sizzling of the butter; you should not brown the bread.

- Remove from the pan then evenly sprinkle the cheese over the slices of bread and place the tray in a convection oven.

- Broil for around one minute or less at 175 C; just till the cheese has completely melted and you see a few golden brown bubble marks. Remove the bread from the oven and serve while still hot.

Notes: You can also use a regular oven. Simply pre-heat to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit before spreading the butter mix on the bread slices.

Another idea is generally to spread the butter and garlic and pesto on the bread slices, then top with melted cheese, place on a square cake pan or cookie sheet and cover with foil before baking at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a regular oven.
